FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SUBJECT: Foothill Lacrosse Teams to Host Electronic Waste Collection Event on Saturday, February 25th 2012
Clean out your old electronics and bring them to the Foothill High Lacrosse Booster Club
e-Waste collection event. The collection event will be held on Saturday, February 25th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Trinity Presbyterian Church parking lot on 17th Avenue, near Prospect in the City of Tustin.
Residents can bring electronic waste items to be recycled such as televisions, computers, laptops, monitors, keyboards, scanners, printers, radios, stereos and small handheld devices. All of these items will be collected at no charge to the public.
Did you know it’s illegal for Californians to dispose of e-Waste in their weekly trash collection?
Yet each year, over 1.5 million tons of e-waste is thrown into landfills. E-waste can contain toxic substances, such as lead and mercury, which can pollute ground water and make it unsafe to drink!
The Foothill Lacrosse teams are proud to partner with PBC Waste Solutions to provide environmentally-friendly solutions to divert e-waste from landfills, while helping meet the Lacrosse teams’ goal to raise $5,000 for their programs. (The Foothills Boys Lacrosse team has a chance to 6-peat as State Champions!)
All e-Waste collected will be recycled using industry-best practices and all sensitive material will be destroyed. Don’t leave old electronics to collect dust in your garage.
